Julie and Maddie - Fall 2011 01/22/2012
An evening at Grace Home 08/14/2011
Recently, Scott promised our house parents at Grace Home that he would teach them how to make hamburgers. So, off we went with lots of burger, buns, and the fixin's. Keep in mind this is Thai beef, not like any taste that we have in the states. Maybe sort of a cross between deer meat and beef, but certainly not what we are used to. They aren't sure they like the burgers at McDonald's, we'll we aren't really sure we like their beef in homemade burgers. But, we had a blast. James and his fiancee came along too and we all had a great time. Pictured below you'll also see some of the items we purchased over the past few months for the children's home. Thanks to those churches that contributed to get the home furnished. God bless you! Julie is flower girl at a wedding 08/14/2011
Julie, our little 4 year old from Grace Home, was the flower girl of a man we've known for 4 years here in Thailand who was married recently. We are so happy for Bill and Pammy Cook. God seems to have definitely put this couple together in His timing. We pray many blessings on their marriage and ministry together in Thailand. The girls get new bikes! :) 07/25/2011
Today, Scott and I took Julie and Maddie to Big C to get 2 brand new bikes. They are so cute. Check em out as they get their new pink and blue bikes and have a burger at McDonald's. Of course, Julie really does not like the burgers. Only will eat the bun and the fries. :) Oh well - not Maddie. Maddie is the bigger one who was left for 3 days without food in her village before she came to Grace Home. Now she eats EVERYTHING! Praise God! She is growing and these girl's seem happier every day. The house parents are obviously doing a great job with these girls. They sang worship and praise songs in the car all the way to the store and all the way home. It was quite an interesting trip with not being able to communicate with them much. There was a lot of pointing going on. :) They are so polite though. And at least knowing the color names in Thai helped me with Julie deciding which color of bike she wanted. She wanted blue because all the other bikes her size had black baskets and she didn't like that. So, she has blue with sea creature stickers all over it. And Maddie has a pink Hello Kitty bike. What fun!!!! "To Paris with Love" Ministry Trip 07/07/2011
June 22-July 1 - I, Marcy, travelled with Terri Savelle Foy's ministry team to Paris, France. Around 2,000-3,000 copies of Terri's little book called "You are Valuable to God" (in French) was distributed by the team all over the city of Paris. It was an incredible trip. Terri preached at 4 church services (Hillsong Paris & Paris Christian Centre) and brought encouragement to young women all over France to follow their God-given dreams. There were 12 women on the team who helped Terri, including myself. It was great to meet Terri finally. Her ministry has impacted our ministry a lot in the past year. We are actually teaching some of her materials in our Bible School (LIBI). I was excited to be able a part of this team and minister in France. I'll be writing more about this in the near future, but just want to share with you now a few photos of the experience. Thank you to all of those who prayed for me while I was on this trip. I look forward to possibly going with Terri's team again next year. It was great opportunity and also served to renew my focuse on some of the areas of ministry we have here in Thailand. Another free local attraction that will be great to bring teams to. When a team comes and spends days working in children's homes, teaching, traveling to help the village people, etc., it's nice to have places available to take them for free days to just enjoy the local art work and have a break Silk Factory 06/11/2011
Another free local attraction. First photo below is of when Princess Diana visited the silk factory many years ago. Umbrella Factory 06/11/2011
We scoped out this place to bring teams to see. This is totally free. Amazing how they make the fans and umbrellas. |
